1878: Midwife Myra Logan disappears without a trace from the Boston Mountains. She suddenly finds herself in a deep, dark cave with no way out and only a faint glow to go toward. She is met by strange yet intelligent creatures and becomes with child — how, she knows not.
Time is meaningless but she must escape. Her husband Zepeda believes she’s kidnapped. He and Myra’s brother and Aunt Nellie search along old Indian trails and military roads through Arkansas and the Oklahoma Territory getting help from the famous Marshall Bass Reeves and a Chickasaw Indian guide, Running Through Water. Myra gives birth to a daughter, then escapes with the help of an Elder only to find three months have passed.
She survives, returns home to Arkansas and her life filled with love, loss, and death. Her daughter, though is special. Through her she learns we’re all Part of the Stars.
