Forgive Us This Day Our Daily Bread: Can A Comfortable Church Remember Jesus?
By Chad Hale
This book is a book of stories, stories from an urban pastor, primarily in the form of letters sent out over a period of about twenty years. The stories relate to the Georgia Avenue Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and the food co-ops for low-income families that were formed out of the church. It is about his journey to cross over the chasm between being middle-class, male, white and well-educated, though never financially wealthy as such, and the other side where poverty is concentrated and there is abundant need. Making this journey with his church community, the author has discovered joy and real “wealth,” and invites his brothers and sisters in the church to join him on the adventure of discovering new and deeper ways to remember Jesus.
