In "Stories For Ava" two families merge in the exciting tale of adventure and misadventure starting in central VT and progressing to a mystery cave in northern VT. Follow the two Davis girls who are in second and third grade from everyday life into helping a wounded wolf and her cub. Grasp the life lessons learned not only by the students but also the parents, town officials and teachers within every day living. Live alongside of the two Davis families as they experience many learning situations. Then into the antics of a fellow classmate who cannot stay out of trouble. And a budding friendship of a school teacher and the local mechanic. Finally the Davis girls, their cousins and a troublesome boy explore a cave with hidden excitement. Many lessons learned are exploited. Although written for children this adventure captures the hearts of all young and younger minds. This story came to fruition when the author relived his experience when telling his daughter Suzanne a VT family story back in 1964. And now the story continues approximately some 60 years later telling stories to Ava, his great grand daughter. He and Ava are some 1250 miles apart but the relationship continues through emails, mail and facetime. Greatness of family, nothing can compare with it. Now as a great grand father he relives the excitement of story telling he once realized with his daughter Suzanne. ![]() Linda was born in Russia in 1956, until the age of six she was brought up by her grandmother Polina. On September 1, 1962, she was sent to an orphanage. Through the sixth grade, she studied in the city of Kurtamysh, in the Kurgan region of Russia. After that she was transferred to the city of Kurgan,to a special boarding school. There she finished sixth and seventh grade. In 1970 she moved to the Caucasus ,with her grandmother Pauline. In 1972 she graduated from high school. Finally, she was freed from the control of the orphanage and she moved from her family as far as possible. In the city of Engels, Saratov region, she graduated from a chemical school, after which she entered the Polytechnic Institute and graduated from it. In 1975 she got married, and in 1978 gave birth to a son, followed by in 1984 giving birth to a daughter. In 1990 she opened the first private (Capitalist) store in the Communist country. That fact would bring on big family problems as her husband and her entire family were committed communists. They could not understand her capitalist bend in any way. For four years, she fought to keep her family together. And at the same time she managed her private store which brought great stress in the family environment. Forced to make a big decision in 1994 she broke up with her husband. Her political views in no way coincided with the political views of Russia and in 1995 she decided to leave for America. This book is the story of her life both in Russia and in America. February 2021
Dear Friends and Supporters of Don Kistler Ministries and The Northampton Press: Greetings and I hope this finds all of you safe and well during these troubled times. Let me encourage you that we as believers do not interpret God’s providence and provision by the newspaper, the internet, or cable news shows, but by God’s revealed Word. And, according to that, He is in total control over all the affairs of men. FREE STUFF On the donkistler.org website, on the pull down menu under “resources” there is a section of “Free Stuff.” There is a large file containing page after page of quotes from the Puritans and other Reformed writers. This was compiled by a good friend, Ricky Kortyna of Pittsburgh, PA., who has been reading good books for years and writing down quotes. This may be a good resource for you if you are a preacher, or just for your own personal edification. PUBLISHING Our latest book is “A Guide to Go to God,” on the Lord’s Prayer, by William Gouge, who is most famous for his massive commentary on the book of Hebrews, on which he preached for 33 years. His book on prayer has never been available for nearly 400 years. It is has been retyped and updated for modern readers. It is 384 pages, hardbound, stitch-sewn, and printed on acid free paper. Here is the link to order: https://www.donkistler.org/store/p47/A_Guide_to_Go_to_God.html#/ Here is the proposed publishing schedule, as always depending on sales and the Lord providing the necessary funds. These are in no particular order:
SOON TO BE OUT OF PRINT The following titles are close to selling out and will be out of print once they are.
If you've considered these titles and have held off in the past, this would be a good time to get them. I see that when a book is out of print, the prices go sky high on ebay and other similar sites. FINANCES I looked back over my files since Northampton Press began in 2007. For the first 5 years I took no salary at all. Now, 14 years later, my hourly wage is the same as the teenager who hands you your order at a fast food restaurant. When I set the price of a book we publish the only factor I take into account is the actual cost to produce that book, which is the printer’s charges, the freight cost to ship it to me, and the cost of the dustcover design. I do not factor in my time in editing or the proofreader’s charges. So I rely solely on book sales and donations for my support. So, if you would like to contribute towards that meager amount it would be greatly appreciated. Frankly, if it weren’t for social security, I couldn’t make it financially. ‘Nuff said! PREACHING I recently went to northern California to celebrate my dad’s 93rd birthday. While there I preached at the church he attends when he’s able. Here is a link to that sermon: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W0eytFWpsYk&feature=youtu.be The title of the sermon is “Glorification,” and the text is 1 John 3:1-4. I hope you find it edifying and encouraging. I’ve been invited to preach at the graduation ceremonies of the SRL Seminary in Medellin, Colombia in November of this year. I was the first visiting professor to teach there almost 15 years ago. May God and His Word continue to sustain you as we await His return! Blessings, Dr. Don Kistler |
