Decatur Book Festival - Scribblers Writing Club Debut 

The Decatur Book Festival this year was a huge success for the Scribblers Writing Club.  Our first show as a club had the following members/authors present: Donna Barron, Julie Clarke, Charles de Andrade, Claire Hertzler, Mike & Leda Owens, Mary Renshaw, Luanne Scrogan,  Pat Smith, Deborah Walker, Frannie Watson.  Many of the members were joined by their spouses, and together everyone worked to make the show the success it was.  We learned the power in team work, in networking our sphere of influence contacts, and in just plain old friendly face to face marketing.  Everyone had the opportunity to share about their stories, and Scribblers became a known group of writers that attracted interest from many of the attendees.  

Mike & Leda Owens had a "sold out" book, with their "I Hate Vegetables"  poetry and illustrations for children taking top billing at the show for our booth.  That was followed closely by Claire Herztler's "The High Sheriff of Greene".  Every author had sales at the show, and three soon to be authors distributed abundant information about their upcoming books.  

The two days at the show encouraged the entire club in their writing efforts.  Next year our goal will be to more than double the size of our booth, and add another 10 or more authors to the booth as well.
